Penkis day
Our last day of trip was during the penkis celebration. Penkis is a traditional Finnish party for the seniors or the « Abi » (in Swedish) in high school. At this occasion they have the opportunity to spend their last day of school partying before staying one month at home to work for their exams. When we were in class the Abi came throwing candies and confetti in the entire school. After their big arrival they all gathered up in the hall and danced, watched by everyone from the school. At the end of the dance each group of student will do a speech to their head teacher and they will give them a gift. When the last group ended his speech, some of the student did an imitation of some teachers. Everyone in the school like this event, it’s really important for them because it’s their way of saying goodbye to their teachers and high school. As French students we really liked the penkis. It was impressive for us because we don’t do this in France. When the seniors ended all of their activities they all went in trash trunks before going around the city.
